Growing a SaaS business is no walk in the park.

Here's the 3-touch email framework that did the trick:

Touch 1: Friendly Suggestion

Send a friendly suggestion for improving metrics based on research about their company.

Offer to share ideas without any obligation or signup required.

For example,

"I saw you currently have a 14-day free trial. Based on research into your target customers, you may find better conversion rates with a 7-day trial."

Elaborate on the research and data that led to your suggestion.

Share a statistic or external case study showing why a shorter trial period boosted conversions.

This builds credibility.

Also, emphasize that you have no hidden agenda or expectation that they adopt your idea.

Make it clear these are take-it-or-leave-it thoughts with no strings attached.

This reduces resistance to engaging.

Touch 2: Follow-Up

In the same email thread, follow up by proposing to share those suggestions over email.

Make it super easy for prospects to say yes, but no pressure.

"Would you mind if I sent over those suggestions for your trial period via email? Worst case you can simply ignore them if not relevant right now."

Focus this follow-up on removing any friction to the prospect taking the next step.

Give reassurance that you understand they are busy…

There is no expectation they implement anything.

Let them know it's just an easy way for you to deliver extra value to their business.

The simpler you make saying "yes" here, the more likely they are to give you the chance.

Touch 3: Case Study

Share a case study showing results you delivered for another similar company.

Then casually invite a quick call to discuss replicating the success.

"Here's a case study on how we helped Company X, also a SaaS for designers, boost conversion rates by 5.3% in less than 60 days. I'm confident we can replicate those kinds of results for you too. Worth a 15-minute discussion?"

The case study is where you shift from sharing value to demonstrating expertise.

So ensure it focuses on a company as similar to the prospect's as possible.

Outline the process that drove results as well as numbers.

Then tie it directly back to the prospect - explaining how the same strategy would impact their key business goals based on what you uncovered about them already.

Here’s the template:

Subject line: Suggestions for {Company}

FIRST NAME,

I saw {something relevant about your company}. I have a suggestion for improving {metric A} and {metric B}.

We helped {client name} {do this thing better}, that led to {result}.

{Frictionless, value-driven call to action}?

Touch 2 (same thread):

Mind if I email over those suggestions? Worst case, you can ignore them.

Touch 3 (new thread):

Hey, FIRST NAME,

To {improve this metric}, we {value proposition}.

Is that relevant at all to you right now?

Touch 4 (same thread):

Here’s a case study on how we helped {similar company to you} do {x thing better}.

I’m certain we can replicate those results for you. Worth a 15-min chat?
