Having an optimised LinkedIn profile is a non-negotiable if you're building a strong professional network.

First impressions last a lifetime.

Make sure you leave a memorable one.

We've helped over 7,500 customers grow their business through Linkedin.

What do you think is the first thing we help new clients do?

You guessed it…

Optimize their profile.

“But what do you mean by… optimize?”

An optimized Linkedin profile conveys a very clear message, explaining who you are, what you do & who you do it for.

Optimized profiles have:

  • High acceptance rates on connection requests.

  • High conversion rates of profile viewers to followers.

Here's what people see when you send them a connection request:

...and that's it!

That’s all the information a prospect has to go on when deciding whether to accept (or not).

Make sure those elements look good!

You're probably thinking....

Does all this really make any difference?

Here's a short story...

2 weeks ago, we helped a new client implement the steps below.

Since, they've got 7 inbound leads.

That might not sound like a lot...

But one customer is worth $250,000 to their business.

And here's the kicker...

They have on Linkedin for 4 years and had NEVER got a single inbound enquiry before.

This is how powerful profile optimization can be…

So... If you want to get the most out of LinkedIn, optimize these 5 things...

5-Steps That’ll Turn Your LinkedIn profile Into A Business Growth Machine:

  1. Professional Profile Photo

  2. Humanizing Banner

  3. Authority Building Headline

  4. About Me/Your story

  5. Experience Section

Let’s look at each of them.

1. Professional Profile Photo

Pictures say a thousand words.

Make your photo speak for you.

Your profile photo should do 2 things:

1) Match your audience:

  • Connecting with CEOs? Wear a suit.

  • Connecting with Freelancers? Keep it casual.

Why is this important?

It’s simple psychology.

You attract what you are.

Use your profile photo to project who YOU are (or a polished version of your future self) and that will attract people “just like you”.

2) Build trust by:

  • Showing your face - people trust people first. Not robotic, faceless business owners. This is why you see more about “personal” branding these days. And less about “business” branding.

  • Smiling - A smile is scientifically proven to build trust. And it’s free. Give them away!

  • Having clear imagery - Blurry images make you look unprofessional and sloppy. Make sure you've got a clear HD headshot so people can connect with you, the human behind the profile.

Here’s an examples of a great profile photo.

Would you follow Josh?

2. Humanizing Banner

Your cover photo should follow the same principles as your profile photo.

Great cover photos do 3 things.

  1. Match your audience

  2. Show personality

  3. Show credibility.

We've already covered matching the audience…

But what about the other two?

You can show personality in your banner with:

  • Hobbies

  • Candid photo

  • Action shots

Here’s some great examples:

And how to build credibility?

Share social proof:

  • Mention awards you’ve won

  • Events you’ve spoke at

  • Publications you’ve written

Like this:

3. Authority Building Headline

The headline is your first opportunity to speak to your audience.

You must give them a reason WHY they should value what you have to say.

There are 5 proven headline formulas:

1. Massive Social Proof

2. Problem / Solution

3. The Irresistible Pitch:

4. The Leveler:

5. The Big Shot

Here’s a quick tip:

It's the first 9 words of your headline that matter most.

Why?

That's what people see when they decide whether to connect with you.

Make sure your headline grabs their attention right away.

Social proof converts best.

4. The About Section

The about section is your LinkedIn sales letter.

It should convince the reader to take ACTION.

There are 5 formulas that are proven to increase conversion rates on your profile:

1. Clear Pitch

2. Social Proof Story

3. Irresistible Offer

4. Features/Benefits Dump

5. The Switch

5. Experience

And last but certainly not least.

Your experience.

If someone has scrolled this far… they’re interested.

You’ve got their attention.

Use the experience section to turn attention into interest & desire.

Outline, in 1-2 sentences, experiences that apply to the type of people who you want to connect with.

Let the reader know:

  • Who you’ve worked for

  • How much experience you have

  • How long you’ve been in the industry

It should look like this:

Also, you can use long form content to entice prospects even further down the profile funnel.

Here are 3 kinds of long-form content that converts:

  • Blog Posts - Share an “ultimate guide” related to your service/product. Include multiple examples of social proof to prove you're the expert.

  • Case studies - Share a problem solution case study with a previous client who perfectly fits your ICP (ideal client profile), so that you can attract more of them.

  • Press features - These provide external validation of success in a way that video testimonials can't. Make use of the media's influence on how people think.

And the best one…

Inbound leads!

You can implement these 5 steps to turn your LinkedIn profile into a revenue machine in the next 2 hours.
