Newsflash:
Spray and pray does not work in 2024.
“You look like you work in marketing - lets connect”
In your connection request does not work any more.
Here’s how to use some sales navigator advanced tactics…
To get in-front of high-value leads through hyper-personalised searches.
Let’s get into it:
Find immediate connections with prospects who share your background. Perfect for personalized outreach.

When building your prospect list, click on the "Shared experiences" button. This reveals connections you have with potential leads, such as:
Mutual contacts
Shared LinkedIn groups
Same alma mater
For example, if you both attended Stanford University, you could use this in your connection request:
"Hi [Name], I noticed we're both Stanford alumni. Go Cardinal! I'd love to connect and chat about your experience in [their industry]."
This personal touch significantly increases your chances of getting a response.
In fact, our data shows that mentioning a shared experience can boost connection acceptance rates by up to 35%!
2️⃣ Account lists
Search by company metrics like revenue or department size. Ideal for targeting specific business types.
Here's how to build account lists:

Click on "Accounts" in the top left corner of Sales Navigator
Use filters to narrow down your search:
Annual revenue: Target companies within your ideal customer profile
Department size: Find businesses with the right team structure
Industry: Focus on your niche market
For instance, if you're selling HR software to mid-sized tech companies, you might set these filters:
Annual revenue: $10M - $50M
Department size (HR): 5-20 employees
Industry: Information Technology & Services
This laser-focused approach ensures you're only reaching out to companies that are a perfect fit for your offering.
3️⃣ "Who viewed your profile"
Connect with warm leads already interested in you. High acceptance rate guaranteed.
This often-overlooked feature is a goldmine for potential leads:

Click on the "Who's viewed your profile" toggle
Review the list of people who've checked out your profile recently
Send a personalized connection request, like:
"Hi [Name], I noticed you viewed my profile recently. I'm always excited to connect with fellow [industry] professionals. I'd love to learn more about your work at [Company] and see if there are any ways we could collaborate."
These leads are already familiar with you, making them much more likely to accept your request and engage in conversation. Our clients report up to 70% higher acceptance rates with this tactic compared to cold outreach!
4️⃣ Boolean search
Use operators like NOT to refine your search and exclude irrelevant results. Great for targeting niche markets.
Boolean search allows you to create highly specific search queries:

Here are some key Boolean operators:
AND: Narrows your search (CEO AND "SaaS")
OR: Broadens your search (CEO OR Founder OR Owner)
NOT: Excludes terms (CEO NOT Agency)
Quotation marks: Searches for exact phrases ("Chief Executive Officer")
For example, if you're targeting e-commerce CEOs but want to exclude software companies, your search might look like this:
(CEO OR Founder OR Owner) AND (e-commerce OR "online retail") NOT (software OR SaaS)
This refined search helps you find exactly the right prospects, saving you time and improving your outreach success rate.
5️⃣ Save searches
Create and save targeted persona searches. Streamlines your daily prospecting routine.
Don't waste time recreating the same search every day:

Set up your ideal search using filters and Boolean operators
Click the "Save search" button at the top of the results page
Name your search (e.g., "E-commerce CEOs in California")
Access your saved searches anytime from the left sidebar
Pro tip: Create multiple saved searches for different buyer personas or target markets. This allows you to quickly switch between different prospecting lists, maximizing your efficiency.
6️⃣ Exclusion filters
Remove unqualified leads from your lists. Ensures you're only reaching out to ideal prospects.
Fine-tune your search results with exclusion filters:

Set up your initial search
Look for the "Exclude" option in various filters
Select criteria you want to exclude, such as:
Job titles (e.g., exclude "Intern" or "Assistant")
Company sizes (e.g., exclude companies with <10 employees)
Industries (e.g., exclude "Staffing and Recruiting")
You can also use Boolean NOT operators in the keyword search to exclude specific terms. For example:
“CEO NOT (agency OR consultant OR freelance)”
This ensures your list only includes decision-makers from companies that fit your ideal customer profile, increasing your chances of successful outreach.
These tactics have helped me generate leads for 7,500+ B2B business owners, with 1000+ 5-star reviews to back it up.
Now they are all yours!
See you next week,
Nick Verity
