We see people making this mistake every day and it screams rookie, spam, and delete.
Yesterday someone sent me a connection request asking if I was into marketing…
Not so bad right..
But then it was followed up by asking what my favourite food was.
Props for the effort and it did catch my attention- but for all the wrong reasons.
It was automated, poorly personalised, and just plain weird.
My opinion?
Before you automate you should get good at manually sending messages to book calls FIRST.
Why?
Because you need to learn:
✅ How LinkedIn outreach actually works
✅ How to personalize messages effectively
✅ How to find your ideal leads using Sales Navigator
Once you figure out what works manually and you don't have time to follow up, THEN use a tool.
But most people go wrong by jumping straight into automation before:
❌ Nailing their offer
❌ Defining their target persona
❌ Writing the right message
Remember, technology should AMPLIFY your manual efforts.
It shouldn't REPLACE them.
Master the fundamentals first.
Then scale with a tool.
That's how you avoid coming across as a spammy robot and start booking more calls with your dream clients.
Don't make the same mistake I see 99% of people making.
Learn to walk before you run.
Your business (and reputation) will thank you for it!
